Gistermiddag heb ik de film The Assistant gezien. Deze film werd vertoond door International Film Festival Rotterdam in Jurriaanse Zaal.
An adaptation of Robert Walser’s 1908 novel, The Assistant is a study of an inventor’s business in a state of inexorable decline, and the young man employed by its owner who watches on in despair, drawing chilling parallels with the machinations of contemporary neo-liberal Society.

Het verhaal van Robert Walser zal vast goed geweest zijn, ik vond de uitwerking in deze film wazig en haast niet te volgen. Soms zie je een film tijdens een Film Festival die het gewoon niet is en dat is voor mij deze film.
